Prof. Mani Venkatasubramanian

Washington State University, USA

Mani V. Venkatasubramanian is a Boeing Distinguished Professor in Electrical Engineering at Washington State University (WSU), Pullman, WA. He also serves as the Director of the Energy Systems Innovation Center (ESIC) which manages the power engineering research and education at WSU.  He serves as the Chair of the IEEE PES Working Group on Power System Dynamic Measurements. He is an elected member of the Washington State Academy of Sciences. He was an invited member of the working groups that studied the 1996 Western interconnection blackouts and the 2003 Northeastern blackout. Mani has been working on modeling, stability analysis, and control designs for power grids for the past thirty years. He is an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to the online detection of oscillatory behavior of electric power systems. He is a recipient of the IEEE PES Prabha S. Kundur Power System Dynamics and Control Award.

Prof. Sukumar Brahma

Clemson University, USA

Sukumar Brahma received his Bachelor of Engineering from Gujarat University, Master of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and PhD in from Clemson University; all in Electrical Engineering. He is the Dominion Energy Distinguished Professor of Power Engineering and director of the industry-funded Clemson University Electric Power Research Association (CUEPRA) at Clemson. Dr. Brahma has chaired IEEE Power and Energy Society's Power and Energy Education Committee, Life Long Learning Subcommittee and Distribution System Analysis Subcommittee. He is a long-standing member of the Power System Relaying and Control Committee (PSRC). He has been an editor for IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, and served as Guest Editor-in-Chief for the Special Issue on Frontiers of Power System Protection for the journal. Dr. Brahma is a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE. He was elected IEEE Fellow "for contributions to power system protection with distributed and renewable generation”.

Mr. Sushil Kumar Soonee

He specializes in Power System Operation, Planning, Commercial, Settlement, Restoration and entire gamut of Power Pooling and Governance. Prof. Anil Pahwa

Kansas State University, USA

Anil Pahwa has worked for 41 years in Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Kansas State University, where he is presently University Distinguished Professor and holds the Logan-Fetterhoof Chair. He received the B.E. (honors) degree in electrical engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, India, in 1975, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from University of Maine, Orono, in 1979, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, in 1983. His research focuses on innovative and practical approaches for higher efficiency, reliability, resiliency, and automation of electricity distribution systems. He has received several professional awards including the Jefferson Science Fellowship from the National Academies. He served as a Senior Scientific Advisor in East Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau of the U.S. Department of State in 2014-15 to provide policy support for enhancing deployment of renewable energy. He was a Program Director for power and energy systems at the National Science Foundation from 2018-20.

Prof. A.M. Gole

University of Manitoba, Canada

Prof. Ani Gole hold a Distinguished Professorship at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of Manitoba. He has over 40 years’ experience in the development of modelling tools for power networks incorporating power-electronic equipment such as HVDC and FACTS converters. He is one of the original developers of the widely used PSCAD/ EMTDC simulation program and has made important contributions to the development of the real-time digital simulator RTDS. Dr. Gole is an alumnus of IIT Bombay (1978 B.Tech EE) and the University of Manitoba, Canada (Ph.D., 1982) Dr. Gole is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the IEEE. And a recipient of the IEEE Nari Hingorani FACTS medal.

Dr. Shankar Venugopal

Mahindra & Mahindra

Dr Shankar Venugopal is a Vice President at Mahindra & Mahindra. He leads the technology innovation and intellectual property portfolio for Mahindra’s automotive and farm business. He is the Dean of the Mahindra Technical Academy. Shankar has lead technology innovation at GE, Dow, Honeywell and Cummins prior to joining Mahindra. He holds a Ph.D in Materials Science from IISc and a management degree from IIM Bangalore. He is a prolific inventor with twenty international and eight Indian granted patents. He won IISc’s Best Thesis Award, GE’s Edison Inventor Medal, recognized as one of the top 50 EGMP graduates from IIM Bangalore and with the Prolific Inventor Award from World Intellectual Property Forum. He was a member of the B20 Task Force for driving technology, innovation and Research. He is the author of the book "Mobility Engineer 2030" (Tamil) that describes the future skills required for the automotive industry.

Prof. Anurag Srivastava

West Virginia University, USA

Anurag K. Srivastava holds the Raymond J. Lane Professorship and serves as Chairperson of the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Department at West Virginia University. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at Washington State University and a senior scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Lab. He earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2005. Dr. Srivastava's research focuses on data-driven algorithms and tools for cyber-resilient electric energy systems. His impactful research projects have resulted in the implementation of tools at utility control centers, supported by over $60M in funding from entities such as the US Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, Siemens Corporate Research, Electric Power Research Institute, Schweitzer Engineering Lab, Power System Engineering Research Center, Office of Naval Research, and various National Labs.

Dr. G Narayanan

IISc Bangalore

G. Narayanan is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. He works in the areas of power electronics, motor drives and electrical machines

Dr. Ankush Sharma

IIT Kanpur

Professor Ankush Sharma is currently working as Professor In-charge at Start-up Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India. He is also a faculty member in the department of electrical engineering at IIT Kanpur, India. Prior to that, he was working as Assistant Professor at IIT Bhubaneswar, India. In addition to academic experience of around 8 years, he also has close to 16 years of industry experience. He holds Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur. He has been Project Management professional (PMP ®) certified in 2009 from Project Management Institute (PMI), USA and holds MBA degree in Finance. He has received various awards in his academic and professional career, including POSOCO Power System Award (PPSA) in 2015. He received Gold Award for the “Smart City Pilot Project” by India Smart Grid Forum in 2019. He is a senior member of IEEE.

Prof. A.K. Pradhan

IIT Kharagpur

Prof. Ashok Kumar Pradhan received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Sambalpur University, in 2001. He has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, since 2002. His research interests include power system relaying and wide area measurement based monitoring. Prof. Pradhan is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), National Academy of Sciences, and Young engineer award recipient, INAE, 2001. He has published more than 100 research papers in high impact journals. He has served visiting positions at Technical University of Darmstad, Germany and McGill University Canada. Professor Pradhan has been involved with several projects in Smart Grid and Microgrid areas. He was in the Advisory Committee to Small Hydro Projects, Government of West Bengal during 2017 -2019. He has been instrumental in imparting knowledge in the area of numerical protection to more than thousand practicing engineers of Tata Power.

Dr. O.D. Naidu

Senior Principal Engineer, Grid Automation R&D, Hitachi Energy

Dr. OD Naidu, Senior Principal Engineer, Hitachi Energy India, is part of Grid Automation R&D. He received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He has been with Hitachi Energy since the year 2009 and has over 18 plus years of experience. He is a researcher and an expert in the field of power system protection and control, monitoring, and grid management applications. He has developed innovative technologies for power system fault location, protection and monitoring. He has filed 60 plus patent applications and published 70 plus international journal and conference papers. He holds 26 granted patents in the area of power system protection and fault location. His research interests include power system protection, fault location, monitoring, modeling inverter-based resources, renewable integration, artificial intelligence applications to power system protection and monitoring. He is a senior Member, IEEE.

Shri A.B. Sengupta

Alt-CISO & Chief Manager, Corporate Centre, Grid-India

Having nearly 25 years of experience in field of electrical engineering and Information & Cyber security measures in power system. A certified Lead Auditor for ISO27001 Standard. Has played a pivotal role in planning, designing and implementation of Information Security Controls in various Load Despatch Centres across India. Presently Sh. Sengupta is working as Alternate CISO of Grid Controller of India Limited (formerly known as POSOCO) and handling the Corporate Engineering functions, Security operation Centre operations and CERT-Grid Operation responsibilities. Authored various blogs, papers and publication both in national & International platforms like CIGRE, CBIP, IIT & IEEE conferences, he is member of various technical committees and working group on Cyber Security at National and International level. He is an acclaimed speaker on Cyber Security advanced techniques, implementation strategy and processes in various seminars and conferences on cyber security at National and International arena.

Prof. Abhijit Abhyankar

IIT Delhi

Abhijit R. Abhyankar (PhD) is a Professor of Electrical Engineering Department at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India. He received PhD from IIT Bombay in 2007. He was a member of Global Future Council on Clean Electrification of World Economic Forum. He has acted as expert member of various committees established by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) to provide technical support to resolve regulatory issues. He was a member of National Reliability Council for Electricity (NRCE), set-up by Ministry of Power, Government of India, through Central Electricity Authority (CEA). He was also a member of Taskforce on PoC Transmission Pricing Review, constituted by Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), New Delhi. He has handled important projects and done consultancies for various government and private organizations. Recipient of ‘Teaching excellence award’ at IIT Delhi, he has co- developed an NPTEL web course titled – ‘Restructured Power Systems’.

Mr. Shaju S

Shaju is the Head of the Transportation Business Unit at Tata Elxsi, a leading Design and Engineering Services Company , part of the TATA group. He has over 25 years of experience in this field and has a background in engineering and management. He is in charge of a business that generates close to 200 million US$ in revenue. He ensures delivery excellence and builds customer, partner, and vendor ecosystems to drive the business forward. He works closely with OEMs and Tier-1/2 suppliers in different segments of the Transportation industry. Before joining Tata Elxsi, He worked with Robert Bosch India Limited, where he was involved in software development for Restraints Electronics, a part of the Automotive safety system. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. He has also completed an Executive program in Leadership Management and Strategy from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

SC Saxena is currently heading the National Load Despatch Center (NLDC). He has over more than 27 years of experience in diverse areas comprising of Power Market Operations, Power System Operations, Power Exchange Operations, Electricity Market Design, Regulatory Affairs, Integration of Renewables, REC markets design & operations, and SCADA-IT systems. He has been actively associated with the development of the regulatory framework for integration of Renewables, implementation & development of Ancillary Services, Fast Response Ancillary Services and Market Based Ancillary Services. He was responsible for the implementation of the Real Time Market (RTM) and Integrated Day Ahead Market (including Green Day Ahead Market). He has been associated in the implementation of Security Constrained Economic Despatch (SCED) at inter-state level in India. He has led the team for implementation of the National Open Access Registry (NOAR), a one stop portal for administration of the Short Term Electricity Market in India.
